I am almost 8 months pp. I have officially had 1 period. For the first 2 months after labour I had bleeding on and off so I am not sure if I actually ovulated during this time. Then for 3rd & 4th months I didn't get a period therefore never ovulated. For my 5th month I got a period and then for the 6th & 7th month I've missed my period again. This is just whacky! We want to start TTC again next June/July and if things carry on this way it looks like we have a problem concieving.... I only took BCP for the first 2 months and then stopped.

I read that it can take up to a year for your period to get back to normal...and for some it never really does. My sister had HORRIBLE periods before pregnancy and then after she didn't get a period for six months. When she did eventually get it back it was lighter and shorter....and is till this day...two years later! So it depends on the person. But they are still wacky when you guys decide to conceive again there are drugs that can be used to get you back on track. I had to take them for my infertility. So no worries! GL and have a great day!

You should have started having a normal cycle by now. I know bf can stop your periods, but you stopped several months ago. You may want to go and have an exam to make sure things are working like they should. They say you should have an exam before ttc anyway. BC pills might be a good option for you, just to help get your body back on track . Or you could try herbal supplements to help your body regulate.

Thanks for the info ladies. I had an internal exam at 6wks pp and the doc gave me the go-ahead that everything was A-Okay. I think if by 12 months pp things haven't sorted themselves out I will visit my doc for advice and another internal check-up. Which herbal supplements do you know of that I can take? I just hate BC so much and don't want to take it anymore. Thanks again ladies!

haha- you are lucky!! jk- but my lo is only 4 months and i am b___stfeeding and I have already had 3 periods!!!!! But yeah you should have periods by now- they might be abnormaly long or a little wacky but you should be getting them. I would think you would have other options other than taking bc. Good luck

DDT, When I wanted to have my second baby, I had no periods for 2 1/2 years. I did some research and found that soy isoflavins has plant estrogens and progestrogens in it. This can help regulate your own hormone levels. I started taking a supplement that is actually for menopause, but it contained soy and Black cohosh(chinese herb good for promoting fertility) in it. I took this for 3 months and was about to give up when I got a period. I continued to take them and I concieved 3 months after my period had come back. I believe this worked for me because I had tried for 3 years and no sucess and no period that entire time until I took these pills. There are several remedies you can try but I took New Phase for Menopause. It is like the Estroven but it has the Black Cohosh and Estroven doesn't. You get it at any health food store or any department store in the vitamin section. Or you can just research herbs for infertility.
