Remodelling Home What To Do About Dust

We live w/ my in-laws and my FIL recently announced that he's going to remodel the house. We don't get home until about 8 on weekdays and we usually go out on weekends. My question is, it this bad for my 5 mo old? I don't want her breathing the dust or the fumes. I don;t think we can afford to move out right now. What should I do? I couls go stay with my mom, but we don;t get along that well and it'll just be added stress. I was also thinking of getting a small air purifier to put in our bedroom and turn it on when we are home and construction is going on.

How old is the home? I would be worried about lead dust from the paint. I definitely wouldn't want my lo there if there was lead. Can you stay with your mom temporarily? The dust will get on everything, which means it will end up on her hands and face. Not to mention that she'd probably breathe it in. I'm not trying to stress you out, but I'd definitely look into it. Good luck.

Are they renovating your baby's room? Otherwise just close your LO's door (put a towel at the bottom if there's a huge gap) when you're gone all day. We had renovations done on our 100 year old house just a few weeks ago - painting (which included a heck of a lot of sanding) and asbestos removal. If it's contractors they'll be finished for the day long before you get home so any dust would have settled and you can easily keep it out of your baby's room if they're not working in that room.
