I've had ovarian cysts before - only small ones which went away on their own. I don't know about the membrane I'm afraid I haven't experience of that - but I was told many women get cysts on their ovaries and usually they are small and don't cause any problems as they go away, liek mine did. If they get bigger they need removed though. Did the doctor not explain things very well to you? I hate when things aren't explained well cos then you worry don't you...are you to go back for another scan to check on it or what are they doing? x

I'm sorry :-( I would imagine though if it looked like a major concern they wouldn't leave it until then so maybe she could see it was not urgent? I know it's horrible waiting and not knowing what's wrong. The first time I had an ovarian cyst I got a date through for a scan to check it for size and it was 6 months later the date! Shocking! I managed to get it moved to 4 months later, but by the time I got the scan it had gone on it's own anyway. Try not to worry I know it's not easy but they would see about it sooner if it looked worrying I would think..? Hopefully when you see the ob you will find it has gone on it's own - if you are finding you're feeling anxious about it maybe put pressure on your ob to see you sooner? Take care xxx

I just had a cyst on my ovary. I was having pain so my OB put me through ultrasound. The side I was complaining about ruptured and my other ovary had a cyst. they said that was common and no big deal. I wouldn't worry to much.

I agree with Luvi.. my best friend gets them reoccurringly... just so long as you STAY ON TOP OF THEM by monitoring them with your Doctor, you should be fine. My mother IGNORED hers for over 3 years and has multiple health issues now.

alison- i was also thinking that if my next appointment is not urgent than its probably nothing too serious....feeling a bit better now, thanks for the supportive words!......luvi, did they do anything when it ruptured??

I have had ovarian cysts for years-they come and go with my cycles and for awhile I was on really strong birth control pills to keep them in check. I did have one rupture when I was in a car accident-the seatbelt did it. I just had some sharp cramps and bleeding, but it resolved on its own. Like a harsh period. They make my cycle erratic and heavy but I've never had to get one removed. Don't stress it too much, the worst case scenario is getting it removed if it doesn't shrink on its own and they usually do if you are on birth control. The surgery is laparoscopic. They just want to make sure its not too big and you are in unnecessary pain. Just make sure to stay on top of it, and get your scan done in April-it won't be too long.
