My dd is 1 year old and I was reading the box on the Gerber Graduates lil' eEntrees (the ones that look like little T.V. dinners) and it says 1/4 cup = 1 serving of veggies/fruit for toddlers. So based on the meal schedule I give my dd, is she getting enough in the day? A typical day of food for my dd is as follows.....Breakfast: A bowl of rice Krispies. Lunch: Pasta pick-ups and 1/4 slice of an orange. Snack: string cheese or yogart. Dinner: Gerber Graduates lil' entrees. Of course she gets around 14-16 ounes of formula or milk in the day too. Does this sound like it is enough for her? I know she is healthy, but should I be giving her more fruit or veggies? If I did give her more, I don't know how she would be able to eat it! She is a little piggy, but I also don't want to encourage her to over eat.

I know what you mean. I have a sample menu that came in a book and I read it and was thinking there was NO WAY that Mason could eat that much in a day. Which Mason is still on formula/pediasure and drinking 24+ ounces a day, so once he's down to 16 oz. a day after one year I suppose he would have more room for food. According to the menu in the book I mentioned it gives the following as a sample menu for a day for 9-12 months: Breakfast: 1/4-1/2 c. cereal, 1/4-1/2 c. fruit, 4-6 oz. b___stmilk or formula. Snack: 1/4 c. apple juice, 1/4 c. cheese or cooked veggie. Lunch: 1/4-1/2 c. cottage cheese or yogurt, 1/4-1/2 c. yellow veggie, 4-6 oz. formula or b___stmilk. Snack: 1/4 c. apple juice, 1 cracker, 1/4 c. diced meat or cheese. Dinner: 1/4 c. diced poultry, meat or tofu, 1/4-1/2 c. green veggie, 1/4 c. noodle, rice, pasta or potato, 1/4 c. fruit, 4-6 oz. milk. Before bedtime: 6-8 oz. b___stmilk, formula or water (follow with water or wipe babies teeth after milk or formula). I think the dinner is a bit too much! I really can't see Mason eating all that at once. Of course, 1/4 cup really isn't that much when you put it on a plate, so he might surprise me. Right now he is still doing his main meals in baby foods and eating only his snacks for self-feedings so it's hard to say.

Thanks Rabbits. I appreciate you typing all that in. It still does seem like alot to me. You think of how tiny their tummys are and then thing NO WAY!!! Maybe once my dd is completely on Whole milk she will be able to eat more. Who knows! I am sure she will complaing if she isn't getting enough though!!

My dd is 13 mos and her typical day is follows. Keep in mind she is 18.5 lbs: Breakfast: Oatmeal made with whole milk and slice of wheat b___tered toast. Snack: yogurt, cottage cheese or fruit cup. Lunch: meat, veggie and fruit ( she is at the sitter, so I don't know EXACTLY what she eats for lunch every day). Afternoon snack is usually chex mix, vanilla wafer, graham cracker or string cheese. Dinner is either grilled cheese with a veggie and applesauce, chicken strips with a veggie and yogurt, Mac & cheese with a fruit or spaghetti with bread and a fruit cup. She is VERY picky and will only eat these things!! It is HARD, and we have tried many things withher, but she just sticks with what she knows, I guess!!! She also has 4 oz of juice mixed with 4 oz of water ( divided into two sippy cups) a day and around 12 oz of whole milk. She loves water and drinks that as well. She also usually eats a popsicle before bed. :)

jb - what book are you getting your info from?

jb - February 21

Tryingx3, the info I listed was right on the side of the box of Gerber Graduates Lil' Entrees. They are the ones that look like little T.V. Dinners.
