OK so here it is, My DD has been an amazing sleeper since day one, the night she was born she slept 10-5 straight. She always slept though the night and it only got longer as the nights went on. Well she is a week shy of 11 months now and still is a great sleeper, but....she will go to bed at her normal time (about 8:30) and by 10:30 is has got up cried till you get her lie with her in bed and in about 10mins she back to sleep till 8 the next morning. She wakes up happy as can be. I guess I am not sure what she is doing. Just needs a hug, cause hey thats fine with me. I mean I went though this with one of my step girls but she was 5 and it was the classic I have to pee, need water, etc....i would love to break this habit she is starting just so it doesn't hang around later on. We do have her sleeping in our room, she has a travel bed, and we have co-slept for the first 3 months and still will co-slept if she needs it (like sick or unhappy). I am sure there is no way to change it and will just ride it out, it could be worst she could never sleep :o)
