Sleeping On Tummy

Every morning for the past week, my son surprised me by being on his tummy when I went in to get him up. He obviously has rolled over during the night, because his diaper is only wet in the front, and one of his cheeks is always red and really toasty. Is it okay for him to sleep on his tummy? He's 10 1/2 months old by the way

It's fine, once they prefer the tummy there is no way you can get them to sleep on their back. Also once they can roll over the risk of SIDS really decreases. Keep putting him on his back to go to sleep though.

Okay, that's good to know. He looks so cute when he's on his tummy sleeping, so peaceful. Thank you!

my daughter sleeps really well on her tummy. I put her that way occa__sionally and she sleeps for hours. Now she is only 2 1/2 months, but I just keep an eye on her.

My son is 8 weeks and has been sleeping on his tummy for naps and daytime sleep since he was born. At night we put him on his back.

My daughter is 4 months and sleeps on her belly. She has always refused to sleep on her back.

When they are old enought to roll over they are fine to sleep on there tummy's you can always call the ped and ask for rea__surance if you need to though.

My ds has always slept on his tummy- I was worried, so I got one of those monitors that detects their breathing/heartbeat. I know that they are not 100% reliable, but it does make me feel a little better!

I would think that it's okay by now. My youngest son is also 10.5 months and he sleeps on his belly all the time. Neither of my kids would ever sleep on their backs, even as little infants. Once they are big enough to roll over on their own, tummy sleeping is okay.
