Smelly Breath

I know smelly breath in babies usually mans they are poorly, but Bens has been smelly for a couple of weeks now. Does oral thrush make their breath smell too? I haven't seen any white stuck to his cheeks or tongue so don't know if he even has that. What else can cause a child to smell? He doesn't seem poorly in any way. He has a stuffy nose so I was thinking it might be that. And how do you treat bad breath in babies?

how old is ben again? is he eating solids? Caleb had weird breathe the other day but I figured it was the cold medicine I had given him. But other than that I love his breathe and could smell it all day.

Renity gets bad breath occasionally, too...I just kinda gently scrub her mouth with a wash cloth...she likes it, cause it feels good on her gums.

Could it be a sign of infection? I''ve never noticed any of my kids having bad breath as infants. Now as toddlers, yes, bananas give them the foulest smelling breath, but I can't imagine what would cause it in an infant. Why not give the doctor a call. :o)

I have his check up at the clinic tomorrow, I will mention it to the Health Visitor then. Could it be certain foods I'm eating? I've tried doing a search on the net with no success.

Thrush doesn't make bad breath. Sophia's had thrush since she was two weeks old (we've had meds to treat it, they don't seem to help) and she just smells milky. I'm going to start feeding her yogurt soon, and I bet the thrush will clear up almost instantly.

Thank you monica, tiffani and Jbear. I wasn't sure if oral thrush had a smell to it. I know it does when you have it v____ally. Oh well.
