Hi can I give ds fruit w/cereal and a veggie for dinner? Or is that too much? I usually give him one or the other. He's 5 & 1/2 months and is on the stage 1 baby food. Thanks in advance!

You can do whatever you like as long as you have gone through them first to test for allergies. I.E. Don't introduce mroe than one food at a time, but once they have had it okay you can keep giving it, even with the new food. You do one new food at a time so that if they react you know what the culprit is. I generally give Mason 2 different foods per meal. At this stage he eats 4 oz. jars, so I just give him half of two different jars into a split bowl, then fridge the rest for the next day. I try to give him different colored foods everyday so he is getting everything.

Thanks Bonnie! Christian has had several veggies for dinner already & so far has loved everything! Even squash! lol There isn't too many choices with the stage 1 baby food! Hopefully once he's 6 months the pedi will move him to stage 2. How old is Mason?

Almost 7 months. Stage 2 consistency is pretty much the same. It doesn't get any thicker until Stage 3. You could do SOME of the stage 2's now, just read the label. Some things you wouldn;t want to give until 6 months. Like things with tons of ingredients, anything citrucy lik epineapple, etc. The meat is supposed to be 6 months too, though the dinners are mostly vegetables so I gave them a bit early. But a lot of them are just mixtures (like apples and bananas) of things you have probably already given. You can also mix your own. Wholesomebabyfood.com has some good infp on age appropriate foods as well. Avocado is a great first food that you don't get in jars. You can give it to him in one of the mesh feeder bags, or just mash it up yourself. I too got bored with stage ones so it's kind of nice to know tehre are other foods they can have. Mason didn;t like my cooking or I would give him homemade foods. But everytime I try he spits it at me, lol. But I've given him things like honeydew and watermelon in those bags for snacks. It gives you a little variety from those boring stage 1 jars.

P.S. I usually do give fruit or a veggie with his cereal. Sometimes I mix it in, sometimes I give it separate. For example..today he has had....Breakfast=2oz. cereal with pears mixed in, and 2 oz. Yo Baby yogurt (6 months on the yogurt), Lunch 2 oz. sweet potatos and 2 oz. creamed spinach, for dinner he will have 2 oz. turkey and rice dinner and 2 oz. squash....for snacks in between I gave him the feeder bag with grapes and later one with pitted prunes

Christ, sorry about all the typos. I'm surprised anyone can ever read what I write, lol.

I meant to ask if you got any pics of it. I remember when you said you were gonna start, lol.

I did get pics but I don't have a website yet or anything. I'm lucky I know how to get online! rofl!

Go register at something like Photobucket.com in the meantime. All you have to do is use the browse b___ton to find the file your pics are in. At least it will give you something in the meantime. :) I wanna see!

hi guys! my baby is exactly 4 mths & doctor told us yesterday we can start her off with some rice cereal........i'm so nervous though 'cause it'll be her 1st solid!!!!!!!!!!! the thing is, she can't even sit yet & she only weighs 13 pounds... how should i position her? on my lap? i don't have high chair yet.........

Bonnie - August 14

I used a bouncy chair to feed Mason in until he was big enough for a high chair. They work perfect, do you have one of those? :)
