My dd is vomitting everything she is drinking. It has been going on for two days now. She is literally not drinking an ounce of formula. I am scared. I called the nurse and am waiting for her reply call. She is 6.5 months old. I am suspecting this is stomach flu or something. Can anybody give me the symptoms of stomach flu?? Thanks a lot.

did you try pedealyte or gatorade? I give that to my son when he isn't keeping down fluids. My oldest got the norwalk virus when he was 8 months and was just deathly ill and they only thing he would drink was gatorade. I know I might get crusified for using that, but at least it will keep your lo hydrated.

Vomiting, diarehea, sometimes fever, body aches (hard for you to know) My ped said to give 1 oz of bm/formula every 15 mintues an hour after they throw up if they hold down the oz try another oz in 15 minutes. Wishing your lo a speedy recovery.

Thanks a lot for your reply. No, I haven't tried that. How much of pedialyte can I give her each time and how often? She is 6.5 months old. Thanks again.

If she is still vomiting try an ounce at a time every 15 min until she starts keeping the fluids down. That way she isn't filling up her tummy just to throw it all back up. That's what the docs and murses always told us. It seemed to work and they can have nothing but pedealyte for up to 12-24 hours I think. I used just the plain unflavoured for my lo (he's 9 months), but his older brother wouldn't touch the stuff so I just gave him a bit of gatorade. hope she feels better soon :)

IMO, you should give your baby as much Pedialyte as she'll drink w/out throwing up. Does she have a fever at all?

My 6 month old son just got over the stomach flu a few weeks ago. It started with him not drinking really anything and what he did drink came back up. Then he got diarreha on day 2. The fever didn't come until day 3. He went almost two days with nothing to drink - he refused everything - flavored pedialyte, gatorade, water, juice.... so we spoon fed him the BRAT diet - bananas, rice and applesauce (he's too young for toast) - he threw it up some, but not as much as the formula. Our ped had us add flavored cereal to his formula to make it sweet so he would drink it. We gave him a 3 oz bottle - 2oz of pedialyte and 1oz of furmula with a teaspoon of apple flaovred cereal. He sucked it down and it stayed down. Each bottle after that was 1/2 formula 1/2 pedialyte with a little of the flavored rice ceral - which obviously we stopped adding when he had his appet_te back - but we kept the pedialyte in the bottle until the diarreha was gone. It lasted 7 full days - almost 10 if I count the days before the fever. Be careful, though - because I ended up with it too - and my poor husband had to take off work to take care of both of us. I really hope your daughter feels better!

One real problem with her is that whenever I try to feed her, she starts crying really hard and fights to get up and go away from my lap. I just dont know how to feed her. After 1 hour of trying, she drank a few ounces and she threw them all. She is playing normally and looks active and okay. I am confused! I will try giving her 1oz every 15 min. Ladies, thanks for all your suggestions.

My son didn't want to eat either - I mean, I don't eat when I don't feel good - so I tried to remember that. The two days he went without anything freaked me out, but once we got that pedialyte in him - he felt better and got his appet_te back. I did forget to tell you - he was happy the entire time. Pooping and throwing up at the same time and smiling and trying to bounce through all of it!

mcatherine, can you please tell me where should I store pedialyte once after opening it, refregirator or at room temperature? If in fridge, Can I reheat pedialyte for each feeding? how long can I store it? Thanks a lot.

mcatherine - March 14

Keep it in the fridge, but it only last for 2 days. You can heat it with each bottle - but it heats up a lot faster than water it seemed, so be careful :o) We made a half a bottle, then added the cold pedialyte so it would mix better and then heated it by sitting it in a cup of hot tap water. Hope your daughter is feeling better.

mybaby - when my little one was sick my ped said it is o.k. if he is not eating for a couple of days, sometimes when we are sick we don't want to eat. but YOU should get some pedialyte, that is good for dehydration. my ped. said to give hime .5-1 oz. each time he got sick or bad poo poo. my little one is 7 months and was sick about a month ago. i am sure dd just has a little bug but hopefully will get over it soon!
