is it still ok for my son (8 1/2 months) to still sleep on his tummy even though hes got a real bad cough and stuffy nose, he just sounds so more congested when he sleeps on his tummy, am i worrying for nothing, or should i flip him over onto his back?

I don't really have an answer but my 4 month old ds is just getting over his first cold and the doctor recommended to put a pillow under one side of his mattress to make him be able to breathe better. I am not sure if that would work for a baby that age though. Sorry I really don't know.

If I tried to put my 8.5 mos old on her back even when sick, she would just flip back to her tummy to sleep. Once they are able to roll over by themselves, it is okay for them to sleep that way. If you cn get her to sleep on her back, elevating the mattress can help like Mandee said but if I idid that, my dd would scoot down the the flat part and sleep on her tummy......

My dd does that too. She is 6.5 months old. I cannot make her to sleep on her back. She always wants to sleep on her tummy even when she is sick.
