Swollen Gums In Order To Teethe

Ethan is 6 months and still no teeth yet. But..for the past 2 weeks e has been grumpy, drooling, grinding his teeth on his toys, chewing his fingers and everything else in his, irritable, he wakes up all throughout the night fussing, wants me to get up at 4am...AARRGGGGHHHHH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How long does this last? When will his tooth break thru? My MIL says that before they break thru their gums are usually swollen. Is this true? Because his aren't. They look no different than they did since he was born! Are there any physicals clues as to when they break thru? Can his discomfort last for months, or does the tooth generally break thru somewhat shortly after the discomfort begins?

Could you try some orajel ? Tylenol works good every 4 hours, then motrin every 6. Other then that, just try giving him a teething toy...

Also if you wet one end of a washcloth and stick it into the freezer then later take it out and he can use one end to hold onto and the other to bite on.

You can sometimes see or feel the bumps where the teeth are coming in at. It's been a while since teething for me (soon to be going through it again though....ugh), but I remember when my son was teething. We could see the bump and feel it.
