Teething 3 Month Old

My son is 12 weeks tomorrow, and has all the classic symptoms of teething. He drools EXCESSIVELY, constantly has his fists ( yes both of them!) in his mouth, and I swear I can feel a tiny bump under this white spot on his lower gums. Also, he has recently started fussing and pushing his bottle out of his mouth in order to put his fists in. Is this totally insane, or could he actually be teething?

He could definitely be teething. According to my ped it can happen at any time and not every baby is the same. My daughter is almost 3.5 months old and she's been teething for almost a month. It's just now gotten really bad though.

Yep, he's got a tooth coming in. Pretty soon, the tooth will break the skin. My daughter had the same thing at 3 months. She had 2 come in at the same time on the bottom. If there's a white spot, that's the tooth. My daughter is 7 months now and has 3 teeth now and 2 more coming in. Just give him like soft rubbery toys to chew on. My duaghter loved things like that.

Man! I am so bummed! I mean, everyone says that they grow up so fast, but come on! I never really had a "baby"- he was 9lbs when he was born, and he could lift his head up and look both ways after only 3 days! LOL!!!!!!! Geez!!!!!!! Oh well, I'm just glad that he is healthy and clearly growing. Thanks.

I know EXACTLY how you feel. Madison turned her head the day she was born and was 8 lbs at birth. She's now just over 12 lbs and can sit byself in her exersaucer and bumbo seat. I often wish she'd slow down, but at the same time happy that she's developing. She won't chew on anything rubbery, but I give her bibs and wash clothes. She likes that and her shirts. It helps absorb some of the drool too! :)

Jen, I am glad you asked this question. My son is 14 weeks and doing the same thing. Maybe he is getting a tooth. He was a 9 pounder too, and now is so big that I am packing away size 9 month clothes because they are too small. I am just trying to savor his "babyness" because it's going away so fast!!

Lol Kelly. If my daughter doesn't have a toy to chew on, she resorts to the shirt or bib. And even her fingers, which she ends up biting sometimes, so I have to be sure to keep toys near her.
