Teething I Think

I honestly think that my four month old is teething. How do I know for sure and if so........what do I use for the discomfort?

I don't think there is any way to know for sure that they are teething. Once you notice the gumline changing ( bulging/graying/bleeding) and can feel the teeth emerging, then you can a__sume that they are teething. There are alot of varying opinions on what the symptoms are. I b___stfeed and one way I know is when he refuses to nurse, or nurses with bouts of crying...excessive drooling... crying ( but in our case not inconsolable crying, that usually means something else) tugging on his ears, rubbing under his nose...Teething rings, a finger, washcloth etc... can be used to gum on. Tylenol can be given if they are quite fussy and obviously in pain...my ped recommended ( only if it is really bad) alternating doses of advil(motrin) and tylenol so they are receiving something every four hours, starting with motrin ( which is 8 hours between doses) followed 4 hours later by tylenol. Good luck, teething doesn't seem to stop!

Try the teething tablets they work great.

I'm sorry.....what are teething tablets?

Teething tablets do work great. They have them at Wal-Mart and they are little pellets you put in their mouths and they dissolve instantly. They are all natural, and really do work. Our dd started "teething" at 3 mos- but didn't get her first tooth til 9 mos!

My babies always loved chewing on a cold wet washcloth when they were teething. Some babies don't like it and others love it....it's worth a try to see if yours would find it comforting and helpful.
