This Bites Think My Refund Is Lost

Gonna try this again...lol. Okay, according to the IRS online "Where's my refund?" status check system my refund was suppose to be direct deposited yesterday, but wasn't. I checked my account online and called several times. The lady at the bank told me nothing was deposited nor was anything scheduled to be. One of my mom's friend's is an account manager at the bank and she assured me that it had not been deposited (someone had suggested to me that it had been and the funds just weren't being made available). I had initially thought that maybe it was just late and would be done on Monday, but then found out (from the tax place) that the IRS only does direct deposits only on Fridays and only every two weeks so unless they make an exception for me....lol...it ain't happening Monday. I am mainly worried because my state was also suppose to be direct deposit and it came in the mail a couple of days ago! I rechecked my papers to see if I was mistaken that it was suppose to be direct deposited but sure enough it was right there with the routing numbers and everything that it was to be direct deposit...so why it came in the mail I don't know. I don't think my federal is coming in the mail though as it does say on the online status that it is direct deposit (the state online status just said: direct deposit made? no...but I thought it just meant that it hadn't been made yet. It just said it had been processed) Anyways, I rechecked my routing and account numbers on my papers numerous times to ensure they are correct and they are. I have talked to 5 different people who filed either at the same time or after me and all of them said their's was direct deposited first thing yesterday morning. I am absolutely sick at the thought of having to go through some grueling process to get my refund. The c__ppy thing is that the online status thingy says that I have to wait until after Feb. 14 to inquire with the IRS about it if it does not get credited to my account. Where could it be??? (we do not owe any obligations)

how annoying rabbits, theyve made a mistake somewhere along the line, sounds like its lost somewhere in the banking system. even more irritating that you cant inquire about it until after the 14th. i would try and make them make you a exception, its their mistake, why should you have to wait another couple of weeks, banks are a pain like this, but they are quick to take our money in charges if we are overdrawn, ive been stung once this month already and feb has only just started lol, i would ring them and give them hell, why should you have to wait, good luck rabbits.

GGGRRRRR! I just checked my refund status again and it no longer says it was to be deposited on Feb. 9...it now says that it WAS deposited Feb. 9. I called my tax preparer and they said that it probably was deposited but that my bank is with holding it that some banks do that.....I called my bank and she a__sures me that they do not with hold funds on federal tax refund direct deposits and that even if it were a deposit that the funds were being with held on that she would still be able to see that the deposit had been made and that NO deposit has been made to my account. Dh was going to make a down payment on a truck he found that he wanted...it's a really good price for it and we're afraid it won't be there long. I hate to see dh not get it as he drives a hunk of junk. He was going to get a new truck last summer but bought me a van instead. I just feel like crying for him. :-(

So much for a weekend with no stress, hope you are able to talk to the owners of the truck to see if they will hold the truck for you. I will be praying for it to be resolved the money from IRS.

Your not the only one... My federal was supposed to be direct deposited yesterday also (2/9/07) and it wasn't. The "Where's my deposit" web link is down so I can't see if it was changed. I would NOT call the IRS directly though, my mom was getting her taxes done last week and the guy preparing it was on the phone with the Auditors. Seems this lady was bugging them about where her refund was and because she bugged them so much they decided to audit her! I think I will wait before I call the IRS directly lol.

Have no fear... I have to pay contractors regularly using our "fine" system of government. It is not uncommon for one department to show that the money has been "released" on a date only to know that the reciepient does not have it yet. I would wait until Tuesday before sending out the troops to prepare for battle. Believe it or not, there is someone who actually has to process the payment before it becomes official. Maybe the person that was designated to handle your refund was off on Friday (We fine government employees have been known to take a Friday off every now and again). Don't lose hope.

Celia, I had tried several times to get on this morning, too when I finally noticed the thing they'd posted that it would be down. So, I called that toll free number that they list on there. It's automated so you don't have to worry about pee'ing anyones O.....lol. That's the system that said my refund WAS deposited yesterday. kellen's mom...do you know something about my refund that I don't know?...lol..just kidding.

kellens mom - February 10

Nope...no insider information here. I just know how the system works. BACKWARDS!!! Plus I am an optimist (that probably drives some people crazy). Tuesday....

One more thing...Not to many government folks work on weekends. No sense wasting your time on the phone.

Hi - February 11

Did you use that option to have the fee deducted from your return?I E-filed and used that and my refund was sposed to be deposited on the 9th also .I don't have it and now know why. When you choose to have them deduct your fee from the return They get Your refund ,take their fee Then send it to your bank.which states it can take up to 2 business days to process.Anyways that's what stalled ours .

Rabbits07 - February 11

Yeah, I'm aware that govt. workers don't work on weekends...it was the automated system. I just called to see if it had perhaps changed and was rescheduled for a different date. The only change was that instead of saying my refund was scheduled to be deposited on Feb.9 it is now saying that my refund WAS deposited on Feb. 9 (past tense, not future). Hi, I did do that, but do that every year and my refund has always been deposited on the date it was scheduled for...also, I thought of that myself and asked H&R Block about it when I called them Sat. and he told me that had nothing to do with it. The bank that does the RAC with holds what is owed to H&R Block or whoever and the remainder is deposited, your refund doesn't go anywhere else first. I about knew that wasn't the reason anyway as my mom's was deposited and she used that option as well. I thought it was worth asking though. The tax preparer said that it probably was deposited but that my bank was with holding the funds, but my mom's friend works there and a__sured me that nothing had been nor was scheduled to be deposited in my account. She said that on the off chance that they didn't deposit it until late in the evening (I'm sure the IRS guy stayed late to deposit my refund...lol) that their system may not show it until Monday. I am hoping it is something like that. As I said I just cringe at the thought of having to go through some big rigamarore to prove I didn't get it.

Hi - February 11

I know H & R block sent me an email on the 9th stating the bank that paid my fee had my refund. And that that bank hsbc had started the process to direct deposit it in my bank. And we are still waiting. So I know They got my money.I always do the same each year too.Last year I don't remember them doing this but I guess they changed things.Have they sent you an email ?If not then I honestly don't know what could be holding it up.I don know some banks have a wating period on direct deposits .Maybe ask ur bank what their policy is.wish I could help .Take care .Hope you and me get some money soon.

Rabbits07 - February 11

You know I had forgotten that I had signed up for the e-mail notification. So I just went and checked my e-mail (hadn't checked it yesterday) and there was an e-mail from H&R at 10:38 am yesterday stating that the bank was depositing my RAC check yesterday. My Deposits made at my bank on Saturdays don't credit until on Tuesday so I guess I'll get it then. That irks me and I have a good mind to call my tax guy back Mon. and ask him why he lied and told me that the RAC and their bank had nothing to do with it. And I still don't get why my mom got hers! Is there an option to e-file, but NOT do the RAC? I think I will just file on the IRS webite's e-file thing next year and cut out the middle man. I used to do our taxes all the time, but then we started our own business and I was afraid I would botch something up. We're pretty small scale though and from what I've observed on them doing our taxes the past 3 years I am pretty confident that I could do it myself. Oh well, here's looking forward to Tuesday!

HannahBaby - February 11

Rabbits, i just got a letter in the mail from my accountant just reiterating all of our refund information. At the end of the letter it says "Occasionally, The IRS will randomly hold refunds for up to 4 weeks due to instances of fraud" then it gave a website to go to if you dont recieve your refund within 4 weeks (the wheres my refund website that you went to) So it seems like that you may be one of those random people who got their refunds held.....I hope it doesnt happen to us, we really need the money.
