Thumb Sucker Wearing Winter Hand Mitts

My 8.5 month old is a thumb sucker...doesn't take a soother AT ALL. I haven't had to bring out his hand mitts yet but probably will very soon because its starting to get colder out. To all those mommies of thumb suckers: how did your lo react when having to wear the hand mitts? I can't see it going over very well with my ds, but he will have to wear them as I need to go for a walk at least 1x a day because of our dog. Any tricks? any advice? Thanks!

Only one way to find out... stick the mittens on him and see how he does! We took Tyler out with mittens on today and he chewed and pulled on the thumb part. Naturally there was no way I could get his thumb into the mitten's thumb without general anesthetic. But if Caden doesn't take well to the mitten, you could always cut the thumb of the mitten off on his hand of choice!

Hi DDT - Where do you live? I am going to have to take Chloe out with the dog too at least once a day in the winter and we are outside Chicago, I am dreading the cold weather rolling in!
