Tips On Introducing A Bottle

My daughter is 5 weeks, and I would like to introduce a bottle so that I can pump br___tmilk if I am ever out and she needs to be fed. Does anyone have any tips on how to do it? My hubby tried to give her a bottle and she didn't like it. We used the Avent bottle with the stage 1 nipple. I realize that it will take some practice and getting used to, but any advice would be greatly appreciated! thx

When I introduced the bottle to ds I had to do alot of searching for a SLOW flow nipple as they all seemed too fast for him. You did right by letting hubby give the bottle. Just keep trying and try to pick up on any reactions such as does she seem to be choking (flow to fast) or sucking really hard and getting agitated (flow too slow). Good luck.

oh, and if the flow seems right and she still doesn't want it, just keep trying. Sometimes you have to with hold the b___st (sounds mean I know) and once they realize if they are going to get anything they'll have to take a bottle they will.

Try Dr. Browns bottle---my 8 week old did not take the advent bottle but will take dr. browns----

I agree with Rabbits...being hungry seems to help. I had a coworker who's baby would only eat from the bottle if he was held in a position that was different than the b___stfeeding position. Weird I know. have your husband keep trying. It took a little while before my baby would take a bottle from me. But after once a day, when I decided to wean, it made things much much easier.
