Hi, I just keep noticing that the on the other thread people keep answering, and while I know their intentions are good the advice they are giving you is incorrect. I can't stress the importance of going back to the hospital. If it is RSV or bronchiolitis the baby needs to be hospitalized. If they don't want to admit her to the hospital DO NOT leave there without a prescription for a nebulizer and Xoponex (the medicine you put in the nebulizer). Keep her elevated, and you can try a cool-mist humidifier, but it probably won't do much. Like I said I'm an RN and I've been through this with both my kids. What you can also do is cup your hand and slap her back like you would for burping her. She should start coughing and this will help to break up the mucous in her bronchioles. It is very important for you to be stern when you go to the hospital and not to leave without all your questions being addressed. I promise she will be ok. Please let me know what happens. Oh, and I like I said DO NOT give her anything until she is re-evaluated. I'm so upset that they didn't let you know if it was RSV before they sent you home.

The medication Xoponex is pronounced zo-po-nex. Take care.

Sorry to b___t in but I agree with Maggie. I know you are dealing with reflux as well and a lot of times it can cause bronchitis. I'm not sure about RSV as that is something Iknow very little about, but quite a few mommies have delt with that as well on the reflux site I go to. Once you have this situated, ask your doctor about doing a swallow study for the reflux to see if she is aspirating. If the fluid is regularly going into the lungs it can cause problems. Good luck hun and let us know how she does!
