To Those Of You Who Have Had Chunky Babies

Did they turn into chunky toddlers or kids? My son is 3 months old and I'm guessing he weighs anywhere from 18-20 lbs. He has a huge belly and a great big badonkadonk. He is wearing 6-9 month clothes BUT the pants are too tight around the middle and the legs in them are too long because the size of his butt means I can't pull them up all the way. Does that make sense? Hehe. He can even sit unnasisted for short periods of time because his bootie is so large. It is cute now, but should I be worried about later? He drains each br___t every 3 hours (he is a very efficient eater, so this takes 10-15 minutes at the most.) He is very active and energetic. However, I don't want him to be overweight later on. Is this even something I should be remotely concerned about?

No, I wouldn't worry at all. He sounds adorable! From what I have read, it is impossible to overfeed a b___stfed baby. I also don't think that it is possible to become overweight from b___stmilk. I'm sure that once he starts crawling etc., he'll burn off more weight. I think big, chunky babies are the best!!!

My sister was a real fat baby, but you could never tell now, she probably weighs all of 110 pounds at 18.

my dh weighed 26 pounds when he was 7 months old and by the time he was 2 he was skinny as a rod and still is can eat whatever and never gain a pound

I don't think you should stress over it at all. I have to pull the baby books to check their 3 month weights, but I know both of my kids reached the weight limit for our infant carrier by the time they were 5 months old, which meant that they were 20 lbs then. I cannot even imagine having a 20 lb one-year-old! Both of my kids have almost always been off the charts for height and weight. My daughter used to have rolls on top of her rolls when she was a baby... very chubby. She is now 4 and is the tallest in her preschool cla__s. She looks like she is 6, but she is not fat at all. My son is 15 months old and 30 lbs. He is very stocky, but honestly does not have the fat rolls like my daughter did as a baby. He has a round belly after he eats, but otherwise he is just a solid little tank. At 15 months, he is built like a football player. He has an enormous head and very broad shoulders and back. It's actually sort of comical to look at him. I am hoping that he will level off like my daughter and maybe just be big for his age --- totally proportional but big.

I definatly dont think you have anything to worry about. I think its pretty much impossible to overfeed a baby that age.. hell eat what he wants and needs. I honestly believe that its what the child eats as they get older that has an affect on obesity later on in life. Im pretty sure you have good eating habits to teach him, so hell be fine. My brother was big ole chubby baby when he was little.. rolly polly.. kind of reminds me of pictures of flynn.. he is a very slim muscular guy at the age of 19. My friend had a little girl and she was HUGE chubby baby with, big ole cheekies when she was a baby.. and now she is the same size as all of the other children her age.. shes 5. I think hell be fine.. youre lucky.. chubby babies are sooo cute!! ~Kristin~

I wouldnt worry either. My dd is 5 mos (tomorrow) and as of her 4 mos check up she was over 18lbs. I would guess she is at least 20 now and she is long also, and very active as well. Once they start moving around they slim down. My dd is off the chatrs for height and weight and my doc doesnt seem to be concerned at all. I think a lot of it has to do with what they eat later on and genes. No worries, he sounds like a cutie. My dd has the most adorable rolls on her arms, we call her the Michelin Man. Here's some pics of my little chubba if you want to take a look..

Hannah was a super chubby one. All I heard from everyone was "Lookl at those thighs"!!! She is 18m now and has slimmed down considerably. I miss those sweet little rolls :)
