Transition From Breastmilk To Formula

I started a new job 2 weeks ago, and I'm working 40 hours a week. Diesel is 6 1/2 months old, and has been primarily br___tfed since birth. he's now on solids, 3 times a day, with formula in between while he's at my mom's. When i get home from work I nurse him about one or two times before he goes to bed. Will getting formula AND br___tmilk upset his digestive system at all? I really don't want to completely stop nursing, but I also don't make enough milk to pump enough for bottles while we're away from each other. I know that if i were to start pumping more often, my body would most likely start producing more milk, but it's just not possible to find the time to pump. So... is it ok to keep giving him formula, solids, and br___tmilk? Thanks in advance!!!

Hey Mellissa, I am transitioning Trevor who is 7.5 months old to strictly formula. He's been getting both b/milk and formula for the past 3 weeks, and I'm slowly weaning him of of b/milk. He has not shown any issues and seems to be doing just time. I don't think that Diesel will have have any digestive issues if he's been having both. :o)

Thanks Steph! I just find it so much more convenient to b/f him while I'm home...but it's way more practical for my mom to make him formula. I think eventually I will give him strictly formula and solids...but maybe not until he's around 8 months, that's when my dd stopped b/f-ing.

I work 40 hours and I pump but Marcy takes more milk than I can get. (I pump two 8 oz bottles a day but while I am away she takes two to three…..) I nurse her when I am there and she takes pumped milk. Sometimes she stll needs more than that so she gets one bottle of formula a day. It doesn upset her. She also gets baby food and eats some finger foods. As long as he isn't having a problem with it, it is fine. If he does have a problem, it may just be the brand or type of formula. (Actaully a little formula can be good as while b___st milk is best, formula has added iron that bm doesn't.)
