Used To Sleep Through

Hi Ladies! My ds is just over 4 months old. From a young age he would sleep for long periods of time at night, for about 8 hours at a time. He would go down early, around 7:30 or 8:00 and sleep through until 3:00 am, wake, feed and go right back down for a few more hours. Once he hit about 3.5 months, he started waking all night. Sometimes every 2 hours and the only way he'll go back to sleep is by nursing. Some nights he will sleep for 4 hours or so when he first goes down, but then it's up every 1 or 2 hours until morning. It's been about 3 weeks of this... anyone else's lo start of sleeping great and then start waking so much? I don't think he's teething, I thought growth spurt, but it's just been going on so long! So sleepy haha! Thanks for any stories you can share!

Have they're been any changes to his routine? Could he be going through a growth spurt? Is he congested? My DS slept 4-6 hours at night from day one. When he was almost 3 months, it increased to 6-9 hours. That lasted almost two weeks, then we started daycare, then he got a cold. He was waking up 3-4am every morning. I'd feed him, and he'd wake up 2 hours later. Then he'd wake up every hour until 8-9am. He's almost 4 months old, and he just got back to sleeping 6-9 hours at night. We bought a humidifer that seemed to help with his congestion, but that might have been a coincidence.

Hey CaliTrish! How are you? There haven't been any changes I can think of... I've gone back to work 1 day a week, but I don't think that could be it! I thought growth spurt, but it's been 3 weeks now, could it last that long you think? Congested I don't think so... would I hear it? He does cough a little, but it doesn't sound congested at all...hmmmm something to think about though... thanks!!

Hey Jen - totally responded to your post without realizing it was you. I'm doing well. Back to work full-time. Miss spending the days with my baby boy. I thought you guys get a year of maternity leave up in Canada. Ya know, it might just be time to add cereal to Cooper's diet.

my ds is the same lately. he has slept through occasionally but mostly he would wake for 1 or 2 feeding now he wakes up at least 3 times before his 1st feeding and then all night after. it's exhausting? why the change? he was up6 times last night and only 2 were for feedings.

I do have a year off, but have gone back one day a week to get out and bring in some extra money etc. My husband is able to spend the extra day with Cooper so it works out well! I'm actually going to start with the rice cereal this week and see if it makes any difference :) How is being back to work? I must have been hard. Lin - Isn't it exhausting lol! Especially when you're used to getting some sleep and then they change it up on you. I have no idea why... I thought it would be a short term thing like a few days, but so far no luck!!
