Vaccination Scares

I am sure you've all heard of them, especially the ever popular autism scare coming from vaccines. What about this stuff I am being told about epilepsy, and now SIDS? My daughter already had her two mo. Vaccinations, she will be getting more in April. What are some opinions and advice on all of this, any stories? Because if I thought it would be safer I would just say no to anymore of them

Candle has had all of her vaccinations. Working in the medical field, I've seen too many children sick and even die from illnesses that could have been prevented by a simple shot. As a parent I couldn't live with myself if she got ne of those illnesses when I could have prevented them.

Hey there Tan, how are you and your son doing? I have heard of cafe mom, and I think even checked it out once, I guess I could join!:) January I do trust your opinions and that was kind of what I was thinking, like it could go both ways, she could be harmed possibly from a vaccine or she could get harmed by getting ill. I got all my vaccines, and I'm still here along with my fiance and four other siblings who all got vaccinated so I don't know if the pros outweigh the cons.

You should join Cafemom, I'm on Tan's page.. so if you join and look her up, add me as well. Angie, Ashley86, BlakesMom, and everyone else is on there as well. About the vaccines, just ask and make SURE they come from mercury free processing plants. That was the big controversy. In order for them to come from mercury free plants, they must have NEVER have processed the vaccines with mercury there at that plant.. they have to build an entire new one. Even my pediatrician whom I LOVE!! Said she had all of her lil ones vaccinated.. her youngest is 3yrs old. She is the one that told me about the mercury free plants.

I just joined ladies! Thanks for the advice January, it really cheered me up. All of these woman who were bragging about not giving their children vaccinations made me feel like a vaccine Monster, I swear. I will have to ask P.R's Pediatrician about the mercury.

I do wonder, what if say since she has had her two month vaccines, I wait until she at least twelve months before allowing her to get more? Does that sound like a good idea? or perhaps get her up to date by six months and wait until she is two years old perhaps?

Some of them have to be done in a certain sucession or they need to be started over.. that's why they are called boosters, one builds on the other. For example the Hep B vaccine. It is usually given right after birth, 2mo., then again at 4mo. If not, they will have to do the birth an 2mo ones all over again. I'm not sure about all of the others and how many months apart they have to be. Just do what you think is best, there are some that are more important than others. Maybe ask your ped which ones they recommend.

Just thought I'd jump in. We've been really nervous about the vaccines too, but decided to get them - but spaced out. We split up her 2 and 4 month shots, doing 2 at a time instead of 4. We just go back 10 days later for the others. I just think getting all those diseases injected in her at once is a bit much. And with the Hep B, they get one at birth, one at 1-2 months, and then the 3rd can be anytime before 15 months. But they usually do it at the 6 month I think. We opted to wait... I've read about a possible link to SIDS (which the doctors don't believe, but it's still scary), so we just decided to wait until she's out of the risk category for SIDS. We'll do it at her 15 month visit. Hope that helps a bit. :)

i didnt know the link between vaccines and SIDS? that is scary....but i did get my baby vaccinated with her first and second month vaccines already, i didnt know about all these scares. i would a__sume that no doctors would be using the mercury vaccinations anymore after the link with autism...i would hope anyways! i think that im going to have my dd get them anyways though. my nieces got all of theirs and they are healthy and really smart. theres a risk of a lot of things in life, even babies toys have a risk of having lead pain nowadays! i think we just have to be as cautious as we can with things we have control of....for me, i would rather her get vaccines and not have the risk of getting the diseases. but i also didnt know about all this vaccination scare business until after she already got them! there is so much to worry about all the time isnt there?

I agree with you margie, I figure she already got them so what can I do now? I hate that this world shoves so much worry on parents, when all we want to do is raise our children the best we know how. I understand that some are trying to help in their warnings, so I always take things into considerations. Like there is a desitin scare. Oh if your baby has too much on their skin it could poison them. What the heck? My mother used that c___p on all five of us, we always had diaper rashes left and right and we're just fine, I come from healthy stock. No one has had an adverse reaction to the vaccines to my knowledge in mine or my fiance's familiy line, except that he is aspergers, but I do not know if that is linked to a vaccination or not. Point is, he is the neatest person I know, so him being on the autism spectrum does NOT bother me! Don't use latex pacifiers, only feed your baby organic baby food, don't bottle feed, you must b___st feed, I would have loved to b___st feed, but I couldn't okay? I also cannot stand how they expect every mother will be able to b___st feed and then put us down when we cannot. It's such an irritant. I am sorry if I sound royally p__sed, I'm really not. I am just glad to have found some other ladies who I can share these things with. The next thing you know all of these 'health professionals' will be telling us if a baby pees too much in their pampers they'll mutate and eat the baby.

I never got vaccines except the valuable ones and I'm just fine. Getting the vaccines is like injecting poison into your kids. Any anti drug is just like a poison, my daughter has got her 2 month and 4 month shots, she was supposed to go today for her 6 month shots today, but we aren't doing them. DH and I figure she has had some...she don't need the others. Getting the shots could be just as harmful as her not getting them, so I will try and prevent her from living a life because they say those with shots are at a higher risk of getting depression because it is all messed up. Everyone in my family decided it would be best to not get them. I feel as though it isn't preventable either way, its one thing or another. But by injecting this stuff into my daughter doesn't set well with me. They say they need them for school, but once she goes to the school I will just demand to sign a waiver saying I refused the shots. Schools can't deny your kids because you personally choose shots aren't the best for them. The medical system is working with the whole, If the kids get shots, its more money people pay to go to the doctor. Its truly about the money, not the health of children.

Oh and also as for all the scares nowadays compared to back then, people now tamper with things to make them better. So we can't compare practically ANYTHING with what parents did with us anymore because they add more, or take out the good all just to cut the cost. As I said, they do this to earn more money then to worry about the health. So Desitin back then may not have been harmful because they switch out ingredients all the time, just don't inform the customers of the switch.

This is a big scare and a lot of parents are deciding not to vax at all. BUT there are a lot of doctors that advocate returning a schedule that looks more like the recommended schedule from the 80's--before Autism and other neurological disorders became so prevalent. Our daughter is 5 1/2 months and hasn't had any shots yet. We've decided to give her some, but not all of the recommended shots and we're going to space them out MUCH more than the CDC schedule. There's a book by Stephanie Cave and one by Dr Sears with alternative schedules that space the shots out in a (hopefully!) more safe way. Also there's a lot of really good, REASONABLE information about this on generationrescue.org/vaccines.html

It is indeed a sad world we live in :( I don't want to have to worry about every little thing, but I suppose I signed up for that when I became a mother. This world is far too greedy for it's own good. Therefore I don't want to here anyone in those businesses that are harming our children complaining of how bad it has gotten. I swear sometimes it seems like hospitals want more sick people. They all are walking talking dollar signs. I may just skip my daughter's six month vaccines, or have her get them a couple at a time. Either way her safety matters to me.

I like to blame it all on the pharmaceutical companies:) But check out Cave/Sears books or that link really suggests some good in-betweens. I think some vaccines are good, just not the way we currently do them. There has got to be a middle ground!
