Hi ladies, My baby just turned 4 months recently and I started feeding him cereal mixed with br___tmilk (sometimes formula). I just wonder do you also start giving baby water to drink at this stage or should I wait till later? Thank you!

You don't have to as they generally get all the fluids they are needing from b___stmilk and formula. Some people do give them water (sometimes with sugar in it) if they begin having problems with constipation, as they sometimes do after starting cereals.

My ped. says no water until 6 months. I think he is a little more strict than other dr's though. My dd is 5 months tomorrow and so far has not had any liquids other than formula yet.

my doctor said if they have problems with constipation it is ok to give water 2 oz at a time (once a day) if this doesnt help it is even ok to give 2 oz prune juice with 2 oz ( 4 oz total bottle) water......I actually had to do this as lo went 5 day without poo and it worked wonders!!!!

my daughter is almost 7 now and i started her on solids at 2 1/2 months. i got a sample packet of dessert through the door so tried her with a tiny bit well that little bit helped her to sleep longer so i used to give it to her about twice a week just to get her used to it. also if a baby is refusing bottles of milk its fine to give them water with a bit of sugar in to keep them hyrated especially after they have had immunisations when they are extremely ratty. my daughter was off formula milk at about 10 months old, and no dummy or bottles at 14 months and no nappies at all by 18 months.
