How do I begin weaning baby?? This may be a stupid q, but everytime i think about it - i get overwhelmed. I have started him on 1 formula bottle at night so thats a start i guess. ds is 5 mos. old & i'm thinkling about going back to work next month- part time.

Well, if he's willingly taking a bottle that's a HUGE step in the right direction. I gave my daughter bottles of formula as a newborn, but when she became more efficient at nursing and could go longer stretches I only b___stfed her... so when it came time to wean (I was pregnant again) she wasn't used to bottles and it was a big struggle to get her to take one. Anyway, now I would say cut out another nursing session and replace it with the bottle...wait a few days....cut out yet another session and replace with a bottle feeding, etc. etc... until you are no longer nursing. It will help ease your body into producing less and will hopefully help engorgement problems. For engorgement (if it happens) you can put cabbage leaves in your bra to help relieve the pain... also Tylenol helps)... I have also found that just nursing a little, tiny bit just to relieve pressure (like once or twice/day) helps, but doesn't keep up your supply and it will go to nil pretty quickly. Good luck :-)
