My dd is ywo weeks old and eats voraciously! (every hour and a half or so). Anyways, when she finshesm she sometimes makes these weird noises like she is clearibg her throat. This goes on for minutes, sometimes more. She also stretches her body (stonach and legs) like she is in discomfort. Is all of this normal or should I be worried?

Emy, My little girl does the same thing!! I am starting to worry. Sometimes she acts like she is trying to catch her breath and then I think she cant breath, so I freak out. But it always seems that she is breathing. I dont know what the deal is!!! I am going to ask the doctor when we go on Tuesday.

Mason makes that clearing the throat noise as well. though he has reflux so I don't know if it's normal or not, lol. Does she cry during or after feeds? Does she spit up a lot?

My daughter doesnt cry after she eats but she has started spitting up alot.

My dd does the same at 4 weeks. I think it is a combination of getting full and reflux, leaving some extra milk in the throat. After she spits up, it usually goes away, but i dont put her down until she does burp or spit it out. The arching back is a sign of pain from reflux, so I have seen. I think this is all due to an immature digestive tract, so normal, but a pain. Oh, and sometimes, I will give her gripewater or mylicon to flush it out a litte and help with the reflux. Good luck.

Thanks...the more I have been reading up on it, the more I get the sense it is reflux. I will have to address this when we go to the doctor's.
