What Is The Best Wax To Use For Brazilian Waxing OT

Hey ladies. I have decided to get a brazilian wax for valentines day and I was wondering if any of you have used a home wax and what works. I might get the waxing done at a salon, but it's a bit pricey so I would rather do it myself if I can find a good wax I'm just worried that the home waxing systems aren't as effective. A blotchy wax job is not hot! lol. Anyway, thanks for any advice!

Certain things are fine to do at home and other things are not. A brazilan wax should never be attemped at home. If you want to wax your upper lip, arms, legs or just your bikini line - buy a home kit and knock yourself out. But anything more extensive that that should not be done at home. Have you ever had a wax job on your "panty" region before? In a brazilian they take all the hair - even in the labial folds and up your crack. You could end up with serious burns trying that on your own. Most salons use cold wax on sensative areas, which is harder to work with, but will not burn. I get waxed in what I would descibe as an extensive bikini wax. I have the sides brought in, the top of the region brought down about 2-3 inches so I am left with a "runway" so to speak. I know that somebody has a name for it, but I don't know what they call my kind of wax job. Yes, it hurts but it is tolerable. Take a couple of Advil and two tums (for redness) about 15-20 minutes before you appointment.

You might want to see if there's a good cosmetology school in your area. The one here does waxing for way cheaper than a salon and you don't really need an appointment. Good luck and have fun at valentine's.

I have one friend that does it at home - with that being said - it is always a two/three hour ordeal that results in some type of wax burn, double-waxed skin (hurts, hurts, hurts) or with some other tragedy (she got her b___t cheeks stuck together once, lol) that ends with hours and hours of jokes and giggles directed at her misfortune. She swears she will one day perfect it. I go to a salon. If I'm crunched for time - I get an American (cheaper, too) and just shave until I can get back to get the rest done. I wouldn't trust myself - even though I have been getting waxed for years now and know how they do it. I can say that once you start getting them done - its hard to not have them anymore! I stopped at the end of my pregnancy and couldn't wait to get back! But - your husband will LOVE it!! Whatever you decide - good luck!

Thanks for the advice everyone. Kara H. You know quite a bit about waxing! And based on what you're saying and mcartrine's story, I don't think I should try this at home! I'm just the type of person to try everything myself but if I don't really know what I'm doing it usually ends badly! I have never had a wax in the bikini area but I have always wanted a brazilian. Perhaps a less invasive wax would be good for my first time though. The last thing I want is to be in pain down there on valentine's day! spamanda, that's a good idea about going to the cosmetology school to have it done. Do they do as good of a job though?

I am tender for about 2 days so book it about three days in advance. I stay smooth for about 2 wks or so.

I think it probably depends on who does it, but if you aren't satisfied you can always ask to have a teacher help them/you... a good friend of mine is in school for this and she says the teachers will fix any problems, lol!
