My two month old is excluxively br___t fed. Her stools are normally a honey mystard yellow color. As of yesterday and today, her stool is a little darker yellow with dark brown fiber looking things in it. We had a medical appt. yesterday and the Dr. said it may be related to my diet, and that I need to eat better; which I shall do. Has anyone else had this problem, or am I all alone here? I'd appreciate your opinion. Thanks so much.

Breastfed babies stools do vary in color, consistency and odor....depending on Mom's diet. The stools you are currently experiencing sound normal. They do begin to turn a darker yellow, almost like French's Mustard color. Everything that you eat/drink goes right to your baby so that most likely explains the fiberlike things you see too.

I exclusively b___stfeed also. My ds has had stools anywhere from yellow to orange to green. I was told that MOST b___st babies have yellow stools in the beginning, but that can change as they get older. I was told the only thing I needed to be concerned about were stools that contained bright red blood, black stools or stools that contained mucous (in the absence of cold/congestion). My last bay had stools that looked like spinach all the time.

my pedi said that anything from brown to yellow is ok - so dark yellow is more than fine, he also said that "seedy" stools happen also. I agree with Rabbits that red bloos and black stools can be cause for concern but so can watery stools, which could mean the baby has a stomach virus. I have never heard of the mother eating poorly and it affecting the color of the poop.

yeah, I meant to add that the pedi never said it was my poor diet that caused my other ds "Popeye stools" LOL
