last nigh my ds was up every 2 hrs wanting to eat. I thought he went through a growth spurt 2 weeks ago as he was eating 10 oz a day more for a week. but last night i got very frustrated. He went to bed at 8:30 ( 8oz ) and was up at 10:50 cried bloody murder until he ate (7oz) and slept from 11:10-1:20 adn did the same, so ended up eating another 7oz and slept from 2-4 and was up fussing, but not crying till 6, on and off with 10-20 min sleeps inbetween until 6 am came and then screamed bloody murder until he got fed again. he then decided to talk and babble for 25 min after and slept from 6:55-7:55. sheesh.... i'm exhausted! what is up with all that??? he has never been a great sleeper but come on it was like he was a new born again!

hmm ds has been getting up in the middle of the night, which is so not like him..he's been a good sleeper for the most part..he goes down at about 9 ish, than wakes up around 1, eats, wakes up around 4 eats, and wants to stay up and play, than goes down around 5:30 again and gets up 8 ish for the day!

do you think it is possible that he s going through another growth spurt even though it's only been 2 weeks?

One thing I do know is that when a baby gets used to getting up and eating, they do it. What I would do is when your lo gets up in the night, reposition them and put a bink (if you use one) back in the mouth and hold it there while you have another hand on their body. This make take 5-10 min. to get them calm and back to sleep but eventually your baby will see you aren't going to pick them up and do one of two things---go back to sleep or not wake up at all. I know right now, my ds is waking a 5:30 in the morning b/c he stayed at my moms Sat. night. My parents are up at that time and accidentally woke ds up and fed him. Now, we have to re-train him to sleep through the hour. GL!

The whining? Sounds like he was tired...was something maybe bothering him? Like itchy clothes or tag?

How old is he? Mosley12 -- your schedule sounds a lot like mine. Except last night he went to sleep at 9, woke up at 3 to eat and went right back to sleep. He then woke up at 6 and DH took an hour nap with him on his recliner. It was too cute! How many naps is your DS taking during the day?

mosley 12: is that normal for you ds?

lin7604 - March 9

luviduvi: oh i tried all that, he kinda refuses to take his binky now a days, i guess that is a good thiing though. i got him up, changed his bum, etc and he got even more upset until he ate, cause he i guess was really hungry. i tried to ignore it, nothing works.

lin7604 - March 9

oh, also that is what i did at the 4 am wake, just let him fuss and he was up till 6 until he ate, which i s around a normal feeding time. and still didn't sleep till almost 7.

its not normal for him to be waking up like that.. he use to go to sleep any where between 9-10 and sleep til about 7-8 . but now he's been waking..i think it may be teething? jacksonsmommy, he usually takes 2 longer naps. one around 10 or so and one around 4 or so, for an hour each. he may take a few 10 minute naps in between, but rarely. if we are running errands he sleeps a little more though, because of the car...lol

jacksonsmommy: mosley and mine were both born on oct 24th. my ds usually takes 4 naps if up at 8 (30-50 min) and 5 naps if up befor or around 7.

that's the other thing how do you know forsure it's teething? mine lo has drooled badly for the last month, his cheeks starting on tues were very red but not yesterday. his bm's have been loose but i thought that might be the oatmeal cereal that i started him on this week ( as rice was constipatng). how do i know forsure it's teething so i can respond to it approriately and seem mean when i let him cry a bit. why would it be worse at night though?

mosley12 - March 9

well dh has been drooling, cranky, low fever, red cheeks, and calm down alot when i give him his teething keys to suck on. and i can see the teeth almost coming out, and the dr. told me he was teething..lol

mosley12 - March 9

i meant ds..lol..dh is cranky but not from teething!

lin7604 - March 9

lol... what do you see? what should i look for? he has one small white spot but that'a it, the dr said that his gums were hard and a little swollen but nothing bad. what is that white spot? it's so small and like it would be just from one of the corners of the tooth but not a whole tooth

mosley12 - March 9

he was 2 white spots on his bottom gum and one white spot on his top. one of the white spots on the bottom is really hard and sharp, so i a__sume that is the tooth that comes in.
