When Can I Stop Saying Quot Hold Her Head Quot

My baby is 6 weeks old and I was just curious, when can a baby hold its own head up? I am constantly telling people "watch her head" or "remember to hold her head" when they hold my baby, and I was just wondering when I can stop worrying about that? Thanks

You'll know when to stop worrying about it when you see that she can hold her own head steady all the time, which doesn't happen at the same time for all babies. A good way to help the baby develop the necessary muscles is to put her on her tummy on a blanket on the floor for a little while a couple of times each day, so she can practice lifting her head. My daughter is 8 weeks and she can't hold her own head up yet, but my older girl could when she was 6 weeks.

I agree with Jbear all babies are different . My son was able to hold his head up since day one and now at 2 1/2 months he can pull himself up on his arms when laying on his stomach.

My son is 4 months and I know it was just the last few weeks he was actually able to hold his head.

I think when they can hold their head on their own, not sure though....
