Good question. I don't know for sure but I have given it to my 17 month old a few times. He seemed to like it.

You could try him on it and see how he does. My younger two have had it since about 15 months and seem to like it. My oldest coudn't eat lettuce until he was like 4 years old lol... he didn't like the texture and was always getting it stuck to the roof of his mouth and it would gag him. Even now he won't just eat a regular salad. He'll only eat lettuce if it's in something like taco salad and the pieces have to be ripped small enough that he can't feel the texture of a big leaf of it. Weird... I know :-)

My daughter loves salads and she started eating them when she was about 18 mths old or so. I just make sure that the lettuce is really really small. Every now and then she still gets a piece stuck.
