When Did You Stop Swaddling Your Baby

My daughter is 6 months old and will only sleep when swaddled. My problem is that although my baby is small for her age she seems to be getting a bit big for swaddling as she always seems to get an arm free and wake her self up. So my question is how did you get your baby to sleep without swaddling them?

ah, the swaddle issue! I had the same issue and began to think my ds would have to be swaddled for the rest of his life! lol. At about 6 months, I started just swaddling his bottom half and letting his arms free--did that for about a month. He learned how to roll over so when I would check on him his swaddle would be off of him, or laying on his head - this scared me so during one of his naps, i gently removed his swaddle while he slept and that was it for the swaddle. After that I just layed him in his crib and he would turn and go to sleep. Good luck!! It will eventually happen! i would just start swaddling his bottom half and letting his arms free -- that is what worked for me anyway.

We stopped at about a month because my ds loves to sprawl out and doesn't like to be cooped up. I dress him appropriately and keep the room a good temp when he sleeps. On really cold nights I use a blanket sleeper.
