My dd is 12 wks and she is trying so hard to sit up. She'll grab her blanket when she is in her car seat or bouncy chair to help pull herself up. When will she start actually sitting up on her own???

my ds started doing that around 8 weeks and is now 17 weeks...I have been helping him since 8 weeks and now he can sit by himself for a few minutes...but for the most part I used his boppy to prop him up or I sit him on the couch next to me. but from what I read most baby's dont start sitting up until 6 months.

It's usually around 6-7 months.

6-7 months is normal. my son could sit una__sisted right at 7 months, although some take as long as closer to 7.5/8 months

My ds started sitting completely una__sisted at 6 months old (almost exactly to the day!). He wanted to "sit" from about 3 months on. I usually would sit with him on the floor and put him between my legs for stability. I also used the boppy and put him between it from when he was about 4.5-5 months old so he could practice sitting.

BTW lo's can start sitting una__sisted anywhere from 5-8 months old.

Lincoln started sitting up on his own at 5 months

now Lincoln is 7 months old and is standing all the time, with the help of whatever he's hanging on to. He'll stand up and hold onto his walker and walk with it.
