my ds is going to be 5 months in about a week and i was wondering when do i start him on what. i've given him cereal a few times, but wic told me to wait until he's 6 months. i don't understand why. he eats well when i feed him with a spoon. the lady's down there are way too weird about things and i was wondering when everyone started giving their baby's food.

You can usually start feeding cereal between 4 and 6 months. So I don't see why it would be a problem for you to start since your baby is right in the middle. I do suggest that you discuss it with the baby doctor first. Plus when you do start make sure you stick to one kind of cereal ( no mixed flavors) for at least 2 to 3 weeks. This is so you can tell if he/ she has an allergen to it and you will know exactly what food it is from. With my daughter I mixed her cereal with b___st milk ( not in a bottle / choking hazzard) Anyways good luck!!

My midwife said the same thing. 6 months. She said sometimes their stomachs can't digest solids yet. Well my 4 month old was grabbing food off my plate one night so I gave her some really runny rice cereal with b___stmilk. She loved it. We did this for a few weeks and then I started introducing veggies. Just don't subst_tute solids for bottles. They still need the regular formula/b___stmilk. I try to feed her solids after I nurse her.
