My daughter is on Keflex for a cut that got infected (she had st_tches) and this morning when i changed her diaper there was no rash but she looked really swollen so i opened it up and shes like really red and raw, im waiting for the doctor to call back im just looking for any personal expierences with this. I know its not a diaper rash because of where the rash is located and gosh, my daughter is 17 months and hasnt gotten a diaper rash in prolly a year. Thanks

It probably is yeast. Antibiotics are bad about causing them to get yeast infections (both girls and boys). All of my kids had the yeast at one time or another when they were taking antibiotics. Your dr. will probably prescribe Nystatin and that will clear it right up. Alot of people use OTC yeast or antifungals, but I've always been hesitant to because it doesn't state baby dosage on it.

Sounds like a yeast infection to me too. If she likes yogurt, that always helps my daughter. At least it may give some relief until you hear from the doctor.

yea my doctor got me some nystatin....I feel so bad for my little one,,,,shes been through so much in the past few weeks. She had to get st_tches for a cut, then the cut got infected, now this. Poor momma!!

If she seems to be itchy too, you can mix the Nystatin with a little hydrocortizone before you appy it, it also helps reduce the swelling. Just make sure that you only apply it topically. I alway give my girls yogurt when they are on antibiotics because they do tend to get red and itchy.

I really am no help in this kind of thing cause I have no experience but just wanted to say I hope things work out for your little one and she feels better soon......I know you wish you could take it all into yourself for her...good luck

aw thanks :o) Its been a rough few weeks for her, now she has to see an orthapedic doctor on monday because her doctor is concerned that she still walks on her tippy toes.....So that will be drama trying to get her to lay there for xrays and MRI

yes hannahbaby I am sure it will be a challange to get her to hold still for all of that.....what makes the doctor so concerned about the tip toe walking?

HannahBaby - June 16

her doctor said that there could be problems with her tendons or bones and usually babies should only tiptoe when they are learning how to walk/crusing. Or, it could just be "idiopathic" toe walking which means that they just do it for no physical reason (which is what she thinks is wrong with my daughter as she stands flat footed and VERY occasionally walks a few steps flat footed) They just want to rule out anything physically wrong with her. It sucks because im a sahm and when shes hurt or scared she wants me not my husband and me being pregnant, i cant go in when she has her xrays.

If nothing is found wrong with her will they try something to get her to walk flatfooted ? I guess what I am asking is will anything bad come about from her walking on tiptoes if she is just doing it cause she wants to walk this way?

(if its idiopathic) They actually have casts (like broken leg casts) that they put on the toddler to weaken the muscles that they have strenghtened by walking on their toes, then put soft braces on their legs so that they CANT walk on their toes. If it turns out thats what her problem is i will wait a little longer and see if nature will take its course and she will go down on her own, if she doesnt by 2/1/2 then i may consider some thing like that. If its bones or tendons they have numerous things. Surgery, metal braces, physical therapy. Im not even putting myself in that situation yet, thinking about surgery and all......

oh no hopefully you will not have to hannahbaby.....well thank you for explaining this to me as I was completely ignorant of this problem even occurring...best of luck to you and let us know what it turns out to be :-)
