Yummy Solid Food

I think I just might have the strangest kid in the world. So, about 3 weeks ago, DH and I went out to dinner; Renity started fussing a bit, so I sat her on my lap, and continued to eat - she decided she wanted to try some baked potato, and tried to grab the fork out of my hand...so I gave her a small piece of potato (no butter/sour cream or anything) and she LOVED it. She ended up eating quite a bit of my potato; I waited a few days, and she continued to love potatoes...so I tried to give her bananas...nope, she HATES those...plus I think she's mildly allergic; she had a small rash, was slightly fussy, and had 1 runnier-than-usual poo diaper; so, I discontinued the banana...last night, I gave her some broccoli, fully expecting her to spit it out...nope, she gobbled it right up...so, tell me...do any other kids like veggies but not fruits??

caleb only likes veggies he finishes it all up but when it comes to fruits he doesnt really care for it.

My cousin's daughter preferred veggies to anything. She is nine and still eats them good! Lucas is so interested in what I am eating. I let him have small sips out of my gatorade. He knows exactly what to do with it. Babies are so smart. I also gave him a sippy cup to see what he would do of water. I had to help hold it, but he drank like a pro!

You know, I tried to give Renity a sippy cup too, since she fights bottles so bad...she's able to pick it up and stick it in her mouth, but she just chews on it, she doesn't try to drink from it...it's one of those leak-proof kind with the valve...I wonder if she'd have more success if I could find the old "leaky" kind?

My baby loves both fruits and veggies equally. He likes everything I have given him thus far, which is about 15 different things. Tonight he had avocado and showed what could have been a slight aversion but still ate it so we'll see...

I think those would be easier for "first timers". I gave Lucas the nuby cup I got from Walmart, it has a squishy top, sort of like a bottle nipple feel, and he did good. I'm going to have to experiment with the cups.

My MIL sent us some of those sports-drink-looking sippy cups...I haven't tried to give those to her yet, though, cause, you know, with my MIL being the brightest crayon in the box, she sent us the largest size...it's too much liquid, and I worry about whether the baby could pick them up.

How good does Renity do holding the stuff to get in her mouth? Lucas does fairly well, and is teething really bad. I wanted to get him some biter biscuits because they are easy to hold. Have you tried those yet? Lucas totally wants to eat with the big people!

REnity LOVES bisquits...here's an adorable picture of her that shows just how much she loves the biscuits (and, coincidentally, how good her aim is!) http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b68/justjyd/000_0071.jpg No hyphens. She holds stuff really well, and she gets it into her mouth most of the time...I got her a high chair today, it's one of those that clips onto the table, so she's up there with us folks...lol...today, we had frozen pizza for dinner, and she was in the chair - I gave her a biter biscuit since she had already had her dinner, and she looked at the biscuit, then at my plate, then at her biscuit, then back at me, as if to say "Mom, I *know* this isn't pizza, so WHERE"S MINE?!?" LMAO...It was so great! She's an angel, but she's got so much att_tude at the same time.

Jamie, the link said image no longer available! Lucas looks at us like we are terrible for not sharing also! Their little personalities are awesome to watch at such a young age! I have got to get him some biters!

Hmm...http://photobucket.com/albums/b68/justjyd/?action=view&current=000_0071.jpg No hyphens, but there should be an underscore between 000 and 0071.jpg...does that work?

I think that my heart would explode if I loved my daughter any more than I already do. It kinda makes me sad, though...when I think about how much I love Renity, it makes me realize how much my parents love me...and as much as I hate to say it, I don't love them as much as I love her...so does that mean that a parent's love is forever doomed to be unrequited? Or...am I just a terrible daughter?

Rachael mommy2lucas - December 20

It worked! She is so adorable! She is sitting up all by herself? Lucas is almost there but he has a lot more rolls than your angel to hold up! I don't love my mom as much as I love my son. I feel like I could explode sometimes too I think he is the greatest thing on earth. I think parents always love their kids more than kids love parents. But I want my son to feel that way about me! I know he does right now : )

Amayas Mommy AKA Stephanie - December 20

Amaya thinks fruit is the worst thing in the world. Se spits gags throws fits anything to keep herself from eating fruit. She loves some veggies though!

Jamie - December 20

She can sit up when she wants to...but more often than not, as soon as she sits up, she sees her toes, and over she goes....lol...she is a very slim baby; I was actually kind've worried at her 4 month appointment, since she was only about 13 and a half lbs...she was 8 lbs at birth, so only gained 5 pounds in 4 months...but the doctor wasn't worried, since both my DH and I are very small, slender people. (I'm 5'3, he's 5'6, he weighs 150, and my pre-pregnancy weight was 105...I'm not admitting to post-pregnancy weight!! LOL)

Rachael mommy2lucas - December 20

LOL! She sounds normal to me. I have lost all my baby weight. My chunkeroo got it all, I think. He goes for his 4 mo appt Thursday and I'll see how much he weighs. I know it is over 17 lbs

I haven't been able to return to my normal workout routine yet - I used to run 3 days a week, and do situps/pushups 2 days a week...but, running is painful cause my mammaries are still a tiny bit oversized from b___stfeeding, and I can't do sit ups cause my abdomen hasn't recovered from the C-section...my scar hurts soooo bad whenever I stress my abs...it sucks.
