Probably not. Unless you have a history of having babies sooner. You can be dilated for a while. I just had my third, and my water broke three days before the due date.

Tina, I am in my 36th week with my 3rd baby and have been dilated 1 cm for a couple of weeks now. Possibly even longer, but hadn't been checked. The doc said my cervix was soft, but still very thick. He said there's no way of predicting how long it will take to actually go into labor; could be a day, could be a month. He recommended walking as a way to speed things up, but it would be more like waddling, at this point. Have you been having contractions? I get those Braxton Hicks contractions all the time with this one, but never had them with my other two.I had to be induced with both of them at 41 weeks, so I don't even know what it's like to go into labor naturally. It's so hard to be patient this time around. I don't know about you, but three more weeks seems like an eternity to me. Good luck to you!

It is so hard to say. With my second child at 35 weeks I was 1 cm, at 36 weeks I was 2 1/2, at 37 weeks I was 3, and at 38 weeks I was 4. His head wasn't engaged so the Dr wouldn't induce me. So finally when I seen him at 39 weeks I was 5 cm with no contractions and he finally induced. My labor was quick though, only about 8 hours.
