Blood Platelets

This is my second pregnancy and with my first child she had low blood platelet count and now with my second they want to do all kinds of tests they tell me that if i cant make it to the appointment (two hours away and i dont have reliable transportation) that they wont reschedule it, and I will have to have a c-section period no questions asked. They told me that it might be hereditary and that if it is it could cause long term problems in my baby. What kind of long-term effects will it have on my child? Im 35 weeks with my second and Im due May 16th 2006.

LOw platelet count can cause bleeding in the brain as it affects the bodies ability to clot, They will probably test your babes blood then give extra vitiman K if needed, Both my kids were born with very low platelet count as I have a clotting disorder which requires me to take hepraine injections when pregnant to thin my blood so when my kids were born they were given a little extra Vitimen K to help clot their blood, Also they might need a blood transfusion, but it shouldn't be too serious especially if they know early then the doctors will be prepared, All the best x
