Home Birth Anyone

Is anyone planning on having (or has had) a home birth. This is my 2nd, 1st one was a long, painful and completely interferred with hospital birth where I ended up at the mercy of all possible drugs to speed up and slow down labor. Needless to say that experience plus lots of reading and talking to other moms of home birth led me to this decision. I am 35 weeks today. Any thoughts, comments or opinions are appreciated.

I here that home briths are being done more and more. I wanted to have a home birth with this baby but because I have a problem with bleeding after brith I stay with the hospital. If you don't have any problems with your pregnancy then I don't see why you couldn't have a home birth. are you using a midwife or a Dr. that will come to your home.

I have a great midwife that only does home births (after working over 10 years at the university hospital). She worked in the same hospital my 1st was born in and when she read the birth report she said "that's the reason I don't work there anymore." She feels that drs and hospitals are in such a rush to intervene with drugs, c-sections and vacuums and not let nature takes its' course. The statistics on the successes of home birth are very encouraging.

I would look into having a birth with a midwife at a birth center or in a hospital. That way help is more readily available in the event of a complication, but the doctors will not interfere until the midwife feels there is a need. I know people who have had home births with no issues, but I also know enough people who had unexpected complications during and after delivery that I would want to be as close to medical help as possible 'just in case'
