This is my 5th, so you'd think by now I'd know, but this is the 1st time I've had PIH. So when they check your urine and its a +1,+2 or whatever, when do they consider it dangerous and induce? I have more than a fair share of trouble with this pregnancy, and I would just like some answers. I've already done the 24-hr,it was high, and here lately I've been really sick (vomiting) and have lost 5lbs in a week. Plz, any info will help, thanks

I had Pre Eclampsia with my first and was induced at barely 36 weeks. My legs and hand and face were getting very swollen. I currently have PIH borderline with Pre-Eclampsia and have been on bedrest for almost 3 weeks. Your Urine reveals Protein at 1,2 or 3 plus but that alone does not diagnose Pre Eclampsia. The protein reveals that your kidneys are not effeciently working. The Hypertension is usually 140/90 or above. I have also done the 24 hour urine. Your doctor will monitor you closely. You will need to keep a check on your pressures. I was induced when Mine bottom number was above 100. However, if you are too early for delivery they may give you medications such as Magnesium Sulfate through an IV to lower bp. If your BP gets too high along with the protein you are at danger for seizure and possible stroke. How far along are you? Most physicians do not play around with this kind of condition.

I am due around the end of May, not sure on dates, i've done the 24hr and it was high, I've had high bp, (take meds for it now) but recently my urine in the office has had +1,+2, so that's why I have been confused. I am measuring way bigger than dates,so I went for an US and she told me to expect a really large one (none of them have been under 7#8oz, and that was 3 wks early) all this is just getting to me. I had preterm at 32wks, so I am just curious to see what else can go wrong. I take BP meds, Brethine (which makes you feel horrible), so if you have more info that'd be great, and thanks for your response

I just stopped taking Brethine last week. I took it for 16 weeks with my first pregnancy. It is terrible. I Md told me that alot of time when you take Brethine, you end of having to be induced. Don't really know. We will see. My due date is May 18 which makes me almost 36 weeks. If you are on Bp meds to keep your BP down then that is probably why they have not induced you yet, plus you are very early. Have they checked your Blood for Liver functions and BUN Creatine levels. They did mine last week which were borderline okay. You may just want to research the topic on reputable web sites such as WEB MD.
