Should I Be Enduced

I am a very young mother, in fact, a teen. I am 34 weeks pregnant and everything has gone wonderfully in my pregnancy. However, my mom has to be out of town March26th through April1st and I am due on April 10th. I have already had some pre-term labor so it is very possible for me to go into labor early. I was debating on asking my doctor to enduce me on Friday, March24th which would make me *almost* 38weeks. Would this still be okay for the baby? Is he most likely to say no? I just need some suggestions.. Thanks for everything! <3 Lauren

I'm also due April 10! 38 weeks is safe (I had my first child at 38 weeks naturally and she was perfect). But I've had several friends who have chosen to be induced b/c either their husband would be out of town or timing just wasn't right. One resulted in a C-section b/c ovulation never occured and another resulted in days of induction followed by the baby having major lung problems. Both moms regretted being induced and said they'd never do it again. I'd say do what's best for the baby and keep her in as long as possible. She'll come when she's ready which will lessen the risk of any complications.

i agree... let the baby come when ready. There is a reason there in the womb to begin and thats to ensure proper developement. If you induce to early you can have problems. Even 1-2 weeks can make a huge difference in their developement. Don't risk it. This way you ensure she is properly developed.

I read recently on a medical website that the due date is more likely to be miscalculated to be earlier than later. So, I wouldn't take the chance. How far away will your mom be, can she come back if necessary? Will someone else be with you? Good luck!
