I read a post from someone who left a message in January 2006. She said that even one drink could cause a baby to have FAS!! Now, should I reconsider?

Hi Krissy, you can only do what you feel comfortable with but I definitely agree with the other girls. I have also had 1-2 gla__ses of wine a couple of times a week in my pregnancies without any consequences, and with the blessing of my doctor ... but ... if it is going to stress you out and you wont enjoy it, I wouldnt bother. For me it keeps me sane some days :-)

Well..I watched a doc_mentary on 20/20 where they showed an ultrasound of a women having just one gla__s of wine and the baby literally went into convulsions as she drank her wine. A fetus is very delicate and can often not handle the effects of alcohol in their systems. We had been told in the past that women could have the odd gla__s of wine during pregnancy. But this is no longer the case..from these studies they now do not recommend women having even one gla__s. The effects can be detrimental to the growing baby and no one know's the long term effects of the occasional drink. However, one drink leading to FAS seems a little ludacris. Anyone, who is considered even slightly high risk should stay far away from alcohol and any other drugs...to avoid miscarriage or long term effects on the baby. I am 11 weeks pregnant..having occasional spotting..For me, I would not take any chances of hurting my baby. But again..it is up to the individual. Kristin :)
