Birth Defects After A Miscarrage

I had a miscarrage Dec 2, 05, And i'm pregnant again! OPPS! 6-9 weeks along not really sure becase i didn't have another period between my miscarrage and now. But my husband herd that there is a high risk of the 2nd baby being born with birth defects, because my body didn't have time to heal itself properly. Is this true? does anyody have an info for us?

First of all .....Congratulations!!! Second of all, I don't believe that about the birth defects. I've done alot of research because I had one dec. 31st. Everything I"ve read says that every pregnancy is different and that just because you have one, doesn't mean you're more likely than anyone else to have another m/c. I've NEVER found anything that says anything about birth defects. I've done tons of research and have never heard anything that backs up your hubby's theory so don't believe it. Also, if your body wasn't healed enough, the egg wouldn't have implanted and you wouldn't have gotten pg. Most dr. say to wait at least one period. But that's more for dating the next pregnancy easier and for emotional healing, nothing really to do with your ability to carry another baby to term. And u/s are so advanced they'll be able to tell you how far you are no problem. So try not to worry, and enjoy your pregnancy. Good Luck and God Bless.

Also, I was going to ask you.. Did you have a d&c? And how far along were you? Sometimes the farther along you are the longer it takes next time to get pregnant. Many dr's say with a natural m/c to go ahead and try right away, sooo don't worry.
