I am suspicious of having a cyst on my left overy and believe that it's been causing me to miss periods and possibly not become pregnant. Can a cyst prevent me from getting pregnant?

vonda - September 21st, 2004 8:30 PM

a cyst will increase your chances of ovulating, so therefore you are unable to become pregnant, maybe once the cyst is removed, or drained, you will be able to discuss about becoming pregnant. my doctor gave me some birth controls and it drained the cyst. I also became pregnant a year later. So just keep praying!

I just went to the doctor monday (9-20-04) for my first pregnancy visit and the doctor found a cyst. I have to go in a week to have an ultrasound. I didn't have any problem getting pregnant.

You can still become pregnant with a cyst on your ovaries...take it from me, I had one that grew to be about 12 cm on my left ovary. I am now 16+ weeks and had the cyst drained and cut open about three weeks ago. Hopefully it wont grow back! Having cysts on your ovaries cant decrease your chances of concieving, but your ovaries take turns each month so if you have one on your left ovary, it still leaves your right.

If I have a cysts on my overies during the first trimester on the pregnancy, will treating the cyst abort the child

Christine - November 4th, 2004 10:43 AM

Donna you really dont treat cysts..they can treat them with birth control sometimes and sometimes there is a cream I think but it is not very effective...I would not try to treat them during pregnancy..talk to your doc about it..if they are under a certain size your fine anyways, its only if they grow large that you have to spend too much time worring.

I just found ou that I have polysistis(sp.) ovarion syndrome. I have not been getting my period lately and have not been ovulating. I was put on Glucaphage on the 5th and I am waiting for it to make my period come so I can ovulate. Does anyone know how long that could take? Thanks...

A cyst makes it harder to get pregnant but you can still become pregnant.I have overian cyst and me and my husband are trying to get pregnant.I'm a couple days late i'm so happy we have been trying for a couple months good luck.

sonia - November 13th, 2004 12:24 PM

I have polycystic ovaries i have 4 on left ovary and what i could count was 10 on my right ovaries the doctor said i will be pregnant this time next year i am having them removed on mon 15 nov i have had 3 miscarriages and am still hopeful so please know we are all in this together i thought there was something wrong with me but i am not alone so i found out some friend of mine has also discovered that she too has cysts on her ovaries. It seems fairly common in women nowadays just eat healthy and do some exercise if you can seemingly that helps not only wiht the pain but with a higher chance of gettin pregnant.xxxx

I have had a polycystic overies for some time due to that I thought I would never get pregnanat. Me and my husband were considering IVF treatment but miracle happen, just month before out IVF treatment was due to begin I discovered that I was pregnant. I am not over 7 weeks pregnanat. I have had few episods of spotting which got me worried a little but touch wood every things seems normal so far and hope it continues that way. Do not worry about not getting pregnanat with polycystic overies as two of my other friends with same problem did concive and their kids are now few moths old and healthy. It took us only about six months try before I got pregnanat
