so far my uncle on my dad side had cl&p im the only one so far to get it. im pregnate and was wondering how high of a chance my child has to get it. and if it would be higher of a chance if its a boy? and i hear you can tell before they are born but i also hear they cant so if i can find out for sure that could help too. thanks

A lot will depend on how well it shows in the scan. Sometimes it can be seen on the scan if your baby has a cleft lip/palate but not always and it takes the baby being born for it to be diagnosed. Males are twice as likely to have a cleft lip but females are twice as likely to have cleft palate. It is also inherited and if the parents have it then the chances are higher the baby will. Good luck though and I hope your little one proves to be without either problem.
