Echogenic Cardiac Focus

I'm 20 weeks , just had my first ultrasound . The doctor found 2 spots in the papillary muscle of the heart, suggested an amnio, which I had before leaving the office...I opted for the FISH test because results will be available in 4 days and regular test results will be given in 2 weeks. Has anyone encountered this ? I'm worried sick- this is my first pregnancy at age 36.........

Hi lizzy there is a post on the 35 or older which is pretty helpful. Its t_tled echogenic foci spot on heart. I am 20 weeks also and my baby boy has one spot on his heart but all other tests are negative.

Hi - Im 34 yo and the scan showed up a small echogenic focus in the left ventricle. Down Syndrome or not - Im going to have the baby. Im worried sick too - I cry at odd times and blame myself for not taking folic acid in the 1-2 months of pregnancy (I didnt know I was pregnant till 7 weeks). I cant make up my mind to have a triple test (blood test) but as I am a naturally nervy person - I want to not know till the birth or I will not enjoy the pregnancy knowing. My gyno said not to worry and to exercise 30min a day and increase green vegies.

Hi - I'm 33 and my scan at 22 weeks has just found the same thing - 2 echogenic foci and we're in a panic. I've scoured the internet and we've decided not to go for an amnio. I've found a big chat about it at bbs.babycenter.com full of women in our shoes, which has helped me decide. Doesn't stop the worry though...
