I went for my 35 week scan and it showed the baby has an enlarged bladder and kidneys, I have to go for another scan next week. Has anyone experienced this? I would be most grateful to hear from you.

Hi I am 30 weeks and yesterday at my scan my baby had its bladder full. The kidneys was not enlarged or no fluid was backing up in kidneys. During the scan the baby did Urinate but it didnt empty its bladder fully. I am looking for answers as well.

During my second pregnancy, the tech saw an enlarged bladder and one kidney smaller than the other on my 20 week ultrasound. I began having ultrasounds every week and was watched closely by the Dr. There wasn't much they could do during the pregnancy except watch closely and make sure she was healthy in all other areas. When she was born, she was immediately taken away to be examined and checked out. All was well and she went home with me after two days. Long story short... she had corrective surgery at two months old, was on antibiotics for five years, and went down to Children's Hospital every six months for testing. One kidney is slightly smaller than the other and works at about 80% capacity, but that shouldn't have any lasting results in her life. The problem was a narrowing in her urethra (sp?) that was causing urine to back up into her kidney and depriving her bladder from functioning properly.
