Fifths Disease Amp Parvovirus

I have recently found out I contracted fifths disease in my pregnancy (I am 19 1/2 weeks right now, not sure when it was contracted as I have no symptoms). Everything I read says there is still a low risk to the baby, but that anemia and hydrops are a potential risk. Has anyone ever experienced this before? I know one teacher (like myself) who has, and her baby was just fine, but she had to have weekly ultrasounds. We happen to have had an ultrasound a day before I found this out and the tech said baby was "beautiful", so we're praying he or she stays that way!

It appears that it is only dangerous to the baby if contracted in the first trimester. Since you are 19 weeks, you are past that. What did your doc say in regards to the baby?

Hi, The problem is I am not sure when I contracted it... could have been weeks or months ago. I had no symptoms, but it is now in my school (I'm a teacher) so I had the blood test done. I did read that most stillborns/miscarriages happen before 20 weeks, and baby was great at 19 weeks, so it worries me a ** little** bit less! Still scared though......

I would call your doc and find out exactly if there is any risk to baby, I always worry about everything. What I read was that it's a risk if contracted in 1st trimester. m/c's are typically cla__sified as <20 weeks.
