I had a spot of blood at 5+ weeks. Ultrasound showed nothing. I was told I was miscarrying. My HCG numbers went from 3,900 to 6,200. My Dr. suspected an ectopic pregnancy. I was scheduled for an methotrexate injection. Immediately before they did another ultrasound. Ultrasound showed a 5mm gestational sac in the uterus, but nothing else. I just had another spot of blood. Am i misscarrying?

Spotting doesn't always indicate miscarriage, and can be in fact pretty common in the first trimester. Thank goodness they did a second ultrasound. Only time will tell at this point, but it doesn't sound like a m/c to me. Please get a second opinion before you choose to do anything drastic.

I'm trying to be positive and tell myself that the Dr's have been incorrect many times. However, its difficult when I'm spotting brown blood. I feel like the stress a__sociated with all of this is going to cause me to miscarry. The size of my gestation sac and HCG numbers don't correlate.

tdo, I had 4 m/c prior to having my dd. With those m/c I did not spot prior to m/c. When I became pregnant with my dd, I spotted off and on during the first trimester (especially early on). I also had an ultrasound just shy of 6wks that showed only a genestational sac but no heartbeat...I went back the following week and they saw a heartbeat. Spotting DOES NOT indicate a m/c. I can't believe they thought you were m/c when your numbers were going up. Give it some time and stay positive.

Any updates tdo?

Hi diventare8, Unfortunately, the ultrasound on 25/1 should 2 empty gestational sacs. My Dr. gave me the option to m/c naturally or go in for a dnc. I still have hope that my dates are wrong and its early on in my pregnancy. I've decided to wait it out. I still feel great, no pain and have all my pregnancy symptoms. I'm having a difficult time. The waiting is stressing me out. I'm trying to enjoy this short time I may have with my peanuts...
