Mold In The Workplace

The place where I work has major mold and mildew problems, enough to see black mold growing in some corners. I have had allergic reactions that I've never had before (burning/watering eyes, sneezing constantly, sore throat) but only when I'm in the office. I'm 17 weeks pregnant and I am afraid that these mold problems could affect the baby. Does anyone know how major this problem could be???

I am going to say that it could be a major problem. If you are already having allergic reactions to this mold, than it isn't likely to get any better the further along you get. Some black molds can cause bleeds in the lungs and other severe nasal and breathing problems. Have you considered contacting your local Labor and Industries office? Your work place has to be safe and not cause a threat to your health. You may need to look into a medical leave until you deliver.

Erin, I wouldn't take a chance with these molds. Your fetus is in a developing stage right now. What you inhale can have a detrimental effect on the fetus. Goodluck.
