Hello.I was wondering if anyone could tell me what it feels like when your water breaks? I am 18 1/2 weeks, and sometimes feel a gush of water ( or something) in the am...only....is this regular discharge? how will I know if it is my water? Thank you and God bless each of your pregnancies...

Well, I had premature ruptured membranes at 29 weeks, and it just felt like I was wetting myself and it wouldnt stop. It eventually turned into a slow leak, as the water keeps replenishing itself (according to my OB). If you suspect it is your water, go the OB and they can do a test on the water with a strip of paper, I forgot the name of the enzyme on the strip, but if it turns blue, then it's your amniotic fluid. That is what they did to me. (I delivered 2 weeks later, 3lb,10oz girl who is 8 years old now and very healthy.)

When your water breaks you will know. It is not just a gush of water, the water keeps on flowing. It feels like you are continously going to the bathroom.
