Taking BCP S After A Miscarriage To Bring On A Period

On April 8 I had a miscarriage and D&E. I was supposed to be 11w5d, but my ultrasound showed the baby had died at 7w6d. My Dr told me I only had to wait one cycle to try to get pregnant again, and I am anxious to start trying. My question is, can I take one month of birth control pills to bring on my period, so I can start trying to conceive again? The reason I am thinking of taking the pill is that I have PCOS, and very irregular cycles. I am afraid if I wait for my cycle to start again, it could take a long time, possibly several months. The only time my cycle has been somewhat regular (not including my time on the pill) was right after I stopped the pill... I had 2 fairly regular cycles, and was pregnant on the third cycle. Will taking a round of birth control pills hurt anything, or mess up my hormones even more? I just want to get my period as soon as possible so I can try again. Thanks.

Lin - I'm sorry to hear about your m/c as well as the PCOS. I had a m/c myself March 5th. If you really want to start ttc again right away I would not take the bcp's. If you need to bring on your period ask your dr for a prescription of provera. It takes 10-12 days to bring on your period & you won't have to wait another month because of the bcp. At my 2 week follow-up post m/c my dr gave me the prescriptions and told me to take a pg test in 2 weeks and if - than take the provera. My periods are very irregular as well and totally unpredictable. I would go for 3-4 months with no period. I would ask your dr about the provera. It's a popular one used by a log of gyno's for bringing on af. I have taken it 3 times now. Good luck!! *~*~*~*~
